“Must-have” lists

Recently I have had some of my close friends either deliver their first baby or they have found out they are expecting their first baby. This is an exciting time for me!

My husband and I have multiple different groups of friends. We have my high school friends, his army friends, our college friends, my work friends, and his work friends. My husband and I were the first to become parents in three of these groups. So now that more of our friends are becoming parents, we get asked questions that I love to answer! Last week one of my friends asked what I would put on a registry now after having three kids. I love this question!

If I were asked by someone who planned to expect twins, my list would be slightly different but overall, I have come up with two “must-have” lists when expecting a child. The first list is full of baby items, and the second list is for the expecting mother. I think often times we forget that when a woman has her first child that a mother has also been born.

I read this quote once and forgive me because I do not know who said it or where I read it. I just wrote it down in my journal because I loved it so much and forgot to write the author. It says, “No one mentioned it -in 9 whole months, not one person said, “You’re about to meet someone entirely new, and it’s not your baby, its going to be you.””

So even when you are prepping and making sure you have everything ready to go for a new baby, make sure you also take time and get some items for you. Come to the realization that you are going to change. You might not realize it at first but eventually you’ll notice you are not the same women you used to be and that is fine! Because now you are a mom, a mother, and a little person’s best friend.

Below are the two lists I have made. Take a look at them and hopefully it will help you out when building a baby registry or give you some gift ideas for this holiday season!
