#Nosleep

If you have one baby or multiple babies, something people always ask you about is sleep. They ask you if you’re sleeping well and if the baby is sleeping well.

With my first-born sleep was hands down no issue. He was sleeping through the night around two and a half months old. He was around 13 pounds, and the doctor gave us the okay to let him sleep for as long as he could at night. Well, he was a pro! He would sleep 12-13 hours at night with no wake ups. Still to this day he is a great sleeper and will actually walk himself to his bed when he is ready for bedtime. He also takes one-two 2-hour naps during the day with no issue.

The twins are a different story. As I am writing this, they are currently 8 months old and are still waking up 2-3 times a night each. We get lucky every once and awhile where one will sleep the whole night and the other will wake up 4 times a night, LOL.

At first when we brought them home, we had them sleeping in the same crib, but they quickly got to the point where Koehn was drastically larger than Kinzley and they just outgrew sleeping together. Their cribs are in the same room because we do not have room to have all three kids sleeping in separate rooms.

They sleep in a pitch-black room with a sound machine. We have a red light that we turn on if we need to turn a light on. Fun fact, a red light might help sleep by supporting the body’s natural secretion of melatonin. We also feed them plenty before bed so they should be fed enough to keep them asleep.

Anyways, we have tried many different techniques with the twins to help possibly get a full night’s sleep, but nothing so far has been a 100% success. Some techniques might work one night and then not work at all. We do have a routine that we stick to, some people seem to think we do not have a routine when we mention this, but I can assure you we do.

All that being said, my husband and I have not had a great night’s sleep for some time now LOL. Some days my coworkers can obviously tell that I have had a rough night but other times I just think my body is used to the lack of sleep.

I know this won’t last forever and the twins will eventually find their groove but for right now we are riding the minimal amount of sleep roller coaster. I cannot wait for the day that I can write about them finally sleeping through the night!!!
