Pregnancy Symptoms
The pregnancy symptoms were very different this go around compared to my first. During my first pregnancy I was sick 24/7. Not only was I sick all the time, but my sickness would come without warning. I could be doing great and then out of nowhere I needed to throw up ASAP. The fun thing about this was that it didn’t just last my first trimester, oh no, it lasted my entire pregnancy. With the twins though the “morning” sickness was very different.
I did experience morning sickness, but it was not to the extent that I had previously experienced. I was sick almost every morning but for the most part it was only the mornings, not all day, and it was only in the first trimester. Due to this, my pregnancy was overall much smoother health wise because I could keep water and nutrients down to fuel my body.
Now as I got into the third trimester the sickness would hit hard again. One Wednesday in particular I remember it being an absolute nightmare. I knew it was going to be rough due to the fact that I had already thrown up three times between 6:30am and 7:40am before I even left to go to work. Every Wednesday my job has a big staff meeting for 30 minutes. Well, it just so happens that my desk is located near the front of where this meeting takes place. I ended up having to run to the bathroom about midway through the meeting because I needed to throw up and by the time I was done the meeting was over. After that I kid you not, I was throwing up every 30 minutes. What really did me in that day was around 11:30am I ended up running to the bathroom. I opened the door, opened the stall door and before I could turn to face the toilet I projectile vomited ALL OVER THE PLACE. Since I was turning when it started, it was on the walls, floor, and all over the toilet. This was not your typical stomach acid pregnancy throw up. This was everything I had ate that morning. I felt so gross. After I was done cleaning it all up, I went and told my supervisor I was going home for the day. He knew that I had basically just spent the whole morning in the bathroom throwing up, so I don’t think he was going to stop me.
Other than my morning sickness being different this time around. What I was craving also was very different. With my first pregnancy, everything I craved was salty. Give me some dill pickle chips with lemonade and a side of sliced tomatoes with salt sprinkled on the top and I was set. This time it was a strange mix of salty and sweet but leaning more on the sweet side. I wanted anything to do with donuts, cookies, brownie bites, and chocolate. I still craved lemonade and French Fries but the level of saltiness that I craved was not near as high as it was with my first pregnancy.
Something else that I knew from the moment I could feel the smallest little movements of the twins, was that baby A was going to be chill and calm, and baby B was going to be a pain in my booty. Why? Well baby A was so gentle with their movements and always stayed in one little area on my lower left side. While baby B was doing flips, kicking like crazy, jabbing me, and just would not sit still.
Since I was having different symptoms and that the babies’ movements were different, I had a feeling we would have a girl and a boy. My husband and I really wanted two more boys though, so I never fully said that I thought we were having one of each until we had our gender reveal party!
