Pregnant Again???

After having my first baby I told myself and everyone who asked, “We are waiting two years before trying for another”. Little did we know LOL.

It was mid-June of 2022, and I got the feeling like I was going to pass out. This only lasted a couple minutes so I figured it was just because I had not eaten breakfast yet. That afternoon we went to my youngest brother’s baseball game and a family friend came up to us and asked, “When are you having another baby?”. I laughed and told her not for a while.

A couple days went by, and I got that same feeling again but this time it lasted close to 30 minutes. I told my husband that the feeling I was experiencing reminded me of the feeling I had during my first pregnancy. He immediately shot down this thought saying there was no way I could be pregnant again. I didn’t want to think I was pregnant again either, so I let the idea slide away.

Then I had the feeling the next morning for the third time. I told my husband that he needed to pick up some pregnancy tests on his way home from work that night. I took a pregnancy test that evening and all my worries went away when I saw it was negative! However, a couple days went by, and I felt sick, really sick so I told myself that I would take the test again in the morning.

I woke up and the first thing I did was use the restroom and take the pregnancy test. I waited for 5 minutes before flipping that test over just to see a POSITIVE result. I told myself that when I got pregnant the second time that I would surprise my husband with the pregnancy test but instead of doing that I was in so much shock that I yelled from the bathroom “CODY BURL BROWN”.

I ran out of the bathroom with the pregnancy test in hand and showed my husband who was holding our 8-month-old. He was just as shocked! We both agreed that since I had a negative and a positive test that we needed to take one more to get a definite answer. Long story short it was positive LOL.

So, we start the process again! I knew I had just had a period at the end of May so when we called to set up my first sonogram, we knew exactly where the 10-week mark would be, so it was easy to schedule that. I don’t know how other places run but for our clinic they do not schedule sonograms until week 10 unless one is needed sooner.

They say that when you are pregnant for the second time you start showing quicker than you did with the first. Well, I could tell personally that I was showing way faster at week 6 with this pregnancy. I kept telling my husband that this baby was going to be large and in charge because it was already making an appearance. We would joke and laugh about how it could be twins but, in all seriousness, we didn’t expect that those jokes would come to be true.

We were waiting to tell family and friends till after the first sonogram. However, my sister was having her bachelorette party before that so I had to tell her otherwise she would have been suspicious. Her reaction was exactly what I thought it was going to be!
