Spring fever
Spring is slowly starting to creep its way towards us - all the moms of little children said, “THANK GOODNESS!”
Our family loves doing outdoor activities so when the weather starts warming up, we get all excited to go on adventures. From walks, helping Pops (aka my dad) on the farm, working in the garden, playing soccer, or blowing bubbles, our family is all about it. So far, we have already been to three walking trails next to our house and gone to the park numerous times.
This will be the first year that the twins will be old enough to enjoy being outside and not just stuck in a stroller or being carried around. Since the weather has been decent the last couple of days, I take the kids outside once I get home from work. Being outnumbered three to one is not for the weak…it’s a job watching three little ones run around by yourself!
I felt like my head was always turning and that I was constantly having to tell Koehn to stop putting rocks in his mouth, Kaison to stay where I could see him, and then having to run and help Kinzley so her walker wouldn’t get stuck. Even though Kinzley is starting to get more curious about the idea of walking, I am glad I just have two walkers right now and not three!
Even though it’s a handful, seeing the kids explore in their own ways is something I never want to forget. Right now, Kaison is all about getting messy. If there is a puddle on the ground, you’ll find Kaison there. Or he will get his toy tractor and play in the raised flower beds pretending to rake a field. Koehn is all about textures and putting things in his mouth. Koehn likes to feel the new grass starting to poke through, pull the grass out, and then try shoving it in his mouth…and if its not grass then it’s a rock. Koehn also just loves to walk on new things. You can tell that his mind is focusing on how the ground feels vs the driveway vs the carpet in the house – it’s amazing to watch him. Kinzley loves looking up at the clouds and trees. She lays in the grass and just looks straight up in amazement. You can tell the personality difference between the boys and her right now for sure LOL.
Some of my favorite outdoor activities that we did while hanging out in the backyard last year with Kaison were,
1. Coloring with chalk
2. Setting up the little kid swimming pool
3. Making chalk paint
4. Planting flowers
5. Playing soccer
I’m excited for all the new adventures we will have this year with the weather getting nicer. First things first though, we have to get through daylights savings time…pray for all the parents of littles out there, we got this!
