Easter!
While most people’s favorite holiday is Christmas, the 4th of July, or Thanksgiving, mine is Easter. I have no idea why Easter is my favorite, but it has been, ever since I was young.
I remember going to my grandma’s house to dye easter eggs that we would take home and find on Easter morning. When Easter morning came along, my siblings and I would wake each other up and then go to the kitchen. The kitchen is where the Easter Bunny would leave his letter. Since we lived on a farm, my dad would still be feeding the cows, so we had to call him when all of us were awake. We couldn’t start looking for Easter eggs or our baskets before dad got into the house. So, the Easter Bunny wouldn’t leave any eggs in the kitchen, that was our “waiting room” until dad came in.
Once dad came in then the egg hunt would begin. Along with the eggs, our Easter baskets were also hidden. We had the same baskets every year so we knew which one was ours and if you found a basket that wasn’t yours, you couldn’t touch it or tell where the basket was.
After the fun was over then we would eat breakfast and start getting ready to go to grandmas. Grandma would then have an Easter egg hunt of her own for the grandkids and then somehow, she would incorporate the story of Jesus and remind us of the true meaning of Easter.
Last year was the first year we were able to celebrate Easter with our first born while having him walk around and search for eggs. I LOVED it! Making his Easter basket, hiding the eggs the night before Easter, spending time with family, the whole day was just perfect.
This year we will have all three of the kiddos ready to hunt Easter eggs and participate in the Easter fun and I could not be more excited. I have already been putting a list together of what I am going to put in their Easter baskets and what crafty things we will do leading up to Easter.
Lucky for you, I’m going to share a list that I put together of items that would be AMAZING for a toddler’s easter basket! Click on the images below to see the items details.
There are so many great things to love about Easter but when you’re sitting around with family or have some down time before you go eat lunch, remember to think about the deeper meaning of Easter. Easter is when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried in a tomb for 3 days, and then resurrected and came back to life on Easter Sunday.
I would love to share more about Easter with you – whether you need more ideas for what to put in an Easter basket for any age group, what crafty projects you can do with children, or what Easter is all about – just connect with me!
